Nintendo reveals Ocarina of Time remake gameplay, Nov. 5 Switch 2 release

Nintendo showed the first gameplay for its Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time during a Direct dedicated to the series' 40th anniversary, and set a Nov. 5 release date. Series producer Eiji Aonuma walked through footage of young Link exploring Kokiri Forest, meeting Saria, entering the Great Deku Tree dungeon, and crossing into Hyrule Field and Hyrule Castle Town, which now has no fixed camera and can be fully explored, with night arriving there for the first time. Nintendo said it redesigned the 1998 N64 game's graphics to blend photorealism with stylized art and evoke nostalgia for the original, and it keeps loading screens between areas to preserve the original feel. Gameplay changes include a manual jump button, a dash move, motion-controlled slingshot aiming, and a new Threads of Time menu feature that fills in a tapestry tracking story progress. Players can also hum ocarina tunes into the Switch 2's microphone to play songs Link has learned. Nintendo first announced the remake in June with only a brief teaser. The game previously received a 3DS remaster in 2011.
