Nintendo's Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct streams Sept. 8, followed by general Direct
Nintendo will stream a The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 7 a.m. PDT / 10 a.m. EDT, the company confirmed. The roughly 30-minute presentation will run on Nintendo's YouTube and Twitch channels and "deliver a variety of The Legend of Zelda related information."
A general Nintendo Direct follows the next day, Sept. 9, at the same time, running about 45 minutes and focused on Nintendo Switch 2 software releasing this winter. A Nintendo Treehouse: Live gameplay stream of roughly 110 minutes airs afterward. It is the first time Nintendo has held two full Direct livestreams in the same week.
Nintendo has not confirmed specific anniversary plans, but the Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2 is due later this year, and the live-action Legend of Zelda movie arrives in theaters April 30, 2027. Leaked images have suggested a special-edition Zelda Switch 2 console and Pro Controller, and rumors point to HD remasters of The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Polygon notes the Direct may also preview the movie's reported cast and Zelda-themed hardware.
The back-to-back Directs mark Nintendo's first same-week double livestream and set up the company's biggest Zelda anniversary push, spanning a Switch 2 remake, a live-action film, and possible themed hardware.
