Playground Games has denied rumours that Forza Horizon 6's PlayStation 5 version has been delayed, reaffirming the game is still due on PS5 this year without giving a release date or window.

The developer addressed the reports in a blog post about the open-world racer's latest major update. "If you're planning your trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5, stay tuned! Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability," the post reads.

The denial comes just over a week after reports of a quiet delay began circulating. Players had already assumed the game had slipped out of 2026 because Playground had stopped talking about it, the Eurogamer report notes.

Forza Horizon 6 was revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2025, roughly a year ago, and launched in May 2026 to strong sales. It has since been estimated as Steam's highest-grossing new release of the year. TGS 2026 runs September 17-21, giving Xbox a likely stage to announce a concrete PS5 date.

Why it matters

The confirmation keeps Forza Horizon 6 on track for a 2026 PS5 launch, but the lack of a date leaves the game's release window unresolved heading into Tokyo Game Show.
