PS5 emulator KyTyPS5 runs Demon's Souls Remake in-game for first time

The PS5 emulator KyTyPS5 can now run Demon's Souls Remake past character creation into actual gameplay, the first time any emulator has shown in-game footage of the title. DSOGaming reported the milestone on September 8, 2026, crediting footage posted by user Musashi on September 7.

KyTyPS5 displays the game's full graphics without major visual issues, but performance is not playable. On an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, the game runs at roughly 1 FPS.

The emulator can also launch and run Grand Theft Auto 5, which DSOGaming called impressive for an advanced 3D game despite weak performance.

In July 2026, rival emulator SharpEmu could boot Demon's Souls Remake only as far as character creation. Both projects remain in early development, and DSOGaming cautioned against expecting broad PS5 game support soon. The outlet dismissed speculation that KyTyPS5 could run GTA 6 before its PC release, arguing GTA 6 will likely reach PC in 2027 and that running GTA 5 or Demon's Souls Remake at full speed by then would already be a stretch.

Why it matters

The first in-game footage from a PS5 emulator marks a step forward for early-stage emulation of the console, even at unplayable frame rates.
