Capcom is bringing the remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 to Nintendo Switch 2 next month, with all three titles launching digitally on October 16. Pre-orders opened today, September 9, the company announced.

The Switch 2 versions are the deluxe and gold editions of the games. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with a DLC pack containing two Leon costumes, three Claire costumes, a deluxe Samurai Edge weapon and a soundtrack swap option. Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition includes the base game, the Separate Ways DLC starring Ada Wong, and an Extra DLC pack with additional character outfits, weapons and items. Resident Evil 3 arrives as a standalone release.

Capcom framed the trio as a bridge to the newest entry in the series. "Experience the path leading to the latest installment in the series. Enjoy this saga of survival horror to your heart's content, anytime, anywhere," the company's description reads.

The announcement extends a pattern of Capcom porting its recent remakes across platforms. The three games, originally released between 2019 and 2023 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, have been steadily expanding their reach since the Switch 2 launched. The Switch 2 versions arrive as the series' next numbered entry, Resident Evil 9, is in active promotion, giving the portable console a full run of the modern trilogy ahead of that release.

The ports also give Switch 2 owners access to some of the most critically received entries in the franchise's recent history. VGC's reviews called the Resident Evil 4 remake "a faithful restoration of an all-time classic" and noted that the Resident Evil 3 remake is "a completely different game to the original."

Capcom has not detailed technical specifications for the Switch 2 versions, such as resolution or frame rate targets, and has not said whether physical editions will follow the digital launch. The company also has not confirmed pricing for the three titles beyond opening pre-orders.
