Steam made $15bn in 2026; Forza Horizon 6 tops new releases
Valve has taken in $15bn (~£11.10bn) from Steam so far in 2026, according to new Alinea Analytics data reported by Eurogamer. The figure represents Valve's cut from selling games, DLC and software on the platform.
Forza Horizon 6 was Steam's biggest revenue-generating new release of the year, bringing Valve an estimated $210.5m (~£155.74m). Crimson Desert followed at $203.3m (~£150.42m), with Resident Evil Requiem third at $200.9m (~£148.64m).
Alinea analyst Rhys Elliott said the top six highest-grossing new releases on Steam accounted for only about $1bn (~£735.8m) of the $15bn total, or 6.6 percent. Expanding to the top 100 new releases raises that to $2.4bn (~£1.78bn), or 15.9 percent of the store's overall revenue.
Two games in the top six, Crimson Desert and Meccha Chameleon, come from new intellectual properties. Crimson Desert alone accounts for 18 percent of new IP revenue, roughly $203m, and removing it drops new IP's share of new-release revenue from 63 percent to 39 percent.
The data shows Steam's revenue remains heavily concentrated in established franchises, with new intellectual properties contributing a small share of the storefront's earnings.
