Civilization 7 adds Atomic Age in free update, space DLC Earthrise
Firaxis will extend Civilization 7's timeline into the Atomic Age with a free update called Arc of Tomorrow, then follow it with the game's first paid expansion, the space-themed Earthrise. The studio revealed the roadmap at a Pax West 2026 panel marking the 35th anniversary of Sid Meier's strategy series.
Arc of Tomorrow, arriving in 2027, is "even bigger in scope" than the Test of Time rework Firaxis deployed in May. It introduces the game's fourth Age, pushing the playable timeline from its roughly 1950s endpoint about 100 years forward to the 2050s, with new civilizations, leaders, buildings, units, and systems. Firaxis is expanding nuclear options offensively and defensively and promising "a fun twist on mutually assured destruction," plus multilateral agreements that let several leaders band together.
Before that, patch 1.5.0 lands this September. It adds the True Start Earth map as an official option, applies the Voronoi map generation algorithm to Terra Incognita and Shuffle, and lets players use Influence to stay in an alliance without joining allies' wars. Map loading, resource placement, tooltips, and settlement banners also get improvements.
The Atomic Age fills the biggest gap critics and players identified in Civilization 7's age-spanning design, and Earthrise marks the first paid expansion for the reworked strategy game.
