Final Fantasy 7 Revelation locks April 8, 2027 release date, gets Sephiroth and Vincent DLC plans

Square Enix set a release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the final chapter of its remake trilogy. Director Naoki Hamaguchi announced during Sony's State of Play livestream that the game launches April 8, 2027, worldwide and simultaneously on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the first game in the series to do so. The date lands almost exactly six years after the first part launched in spring 2021.

The State of Play trailer showed new gameplay, including Cid's airship the Highwind for world travel, a hookshot for vertical exploration, an in-game camera, and Cloud riding a motorbike during a boss fight against one of the giant Weapons. Eurogamer reports Revelation will be the biggest game in the trilogy, covering all prior locations plus new original areas.

Separately, details emerged on a story expansion pass with two parts: one following Vincent and the Turks, another following Sephiroth. Rock Paper Shotgun notes the Sephiroth expansion follows prior story expansions in Crisis Core and the soon-to-close Ever Crisis.
