Ready or Not update 1.5 adds mission editor with deep AI, difficulty toggles

Void Interactive's tactical SWAT shooter Ready or Not has received update 1.5, which introduces the first version of a mission editor tool. The developer calls it the "initial introductory launch" of the feature and says it will be expanded in future patches. The editor works in both singleplayer and friends-only multiplayer lobbies and offers basic and advanced toggles for customizing missions.

Players can adjust player health, bandage limits, friendly fire settings and penalties, and the damage cap on individual hits. Door trap counts and types are editable, as is the percentage of doors that start locked or open, plus a shielded melee damage multiplier.

The largest set of options sits under an AI tab covering SWAT members, suspects, and civilians. Players can change health, accuracy, fire rate, sight range, reaction times, and morale, and pick from suspect archetypes such as sneaky, cowardly, irrational, professional, twitchy, or tactical. Civilians can be set as unaware, noncompliant, hostages, or prisoners, and can be toggled to roam or wear explosive vests. Suspect weapon loadouts are swappable, and modifiers cover stun duration, hesitation, fake surrender, play-dead behavior, perception, and accuracy loss while holding a hostage.

Finished setups can be shared via a copyable code across all platforms. The patch also adds a free triple weapon pack of cosmetic styles and bug fixes.

Why it matters

The mission editor gives Ready or Not players granular control over difficulty and AI behavior, letting them reshape the notoriously punishing SWAT sim to their preferred challenge.
